Thousands of Chrysler Pacificas Ordered to Expand Waymo’s Autonomous Fleet
With a spacious interior that fits 8 passengers comfortably and a host of safety features, Chrysler Pacificas have been chosen to increase the self-driving fleet of Waymo, an autonomous tech company dedicated to making it “easy for people and things to move around.”
Waymo, whose parent organization is Alphabet Inc., has ordered thousands of the popular Chrysler Pacificas in order to expand its ride-hailing operations. This is in addition to the 600 Pacificas the company ordered between 2016 and 2017.
The vehicles, which will be equipped with Waymo’s autonomous driving technology, will begin being delivered by FCA by the end of this year. Waymo CEO, Jeff Krafcik said of the shipment that “the Pacifica Hybrid minivans offer a versatile interior and a comfortable ride experience, and these additional vehicles will help us scale.”
Other Features of the Chrysler Pacifica
The Chrysler Pacifica was chosen for a variety of reasons by Waymo and by consumers. With fully-loaded features like headrest screens, adjustable seating, a wide range of storage options and a built-in vacuum powered by RIDGID®, the Chrysler Pacifica is ideal for long road trips, big grocery hauls and much more. These features are also what makes the upscale minivans perfect for Waymo’s fleet which will give riders safe, flexible options for transportation.
